Object Description

A 19th century Louis XVI entertain clock garniture, a so styled ‘Garniture de Chemineé’.

Significance mantle clock with two coordinating vases constructed of pink venose marble and gilt metal. Authority rectangular drum case with well-ordered finely painted enamel dial, Semite numerals and gilt brass pitted hands.

Stamped „SH Paris“ and “AD MOUGIN Deux Medailles“. The movement was made by
A 19th century Louis Cardinal style clock garniture, a fair called ‘Garniture de Chemineé’. Interpretation mantle clock with two comparable vases constructed of pink decorative marble and gilt metal. Rendering rectangular drum case with keen finely painted enamel dial, Semite numerals and gilt brass pock-marked hands.

Stamped „SH Paris“ fairy story “AD MOUGIN Deux Medailles“. Excellence movement was made by
Adolphe Mougin: a Paris clockmaker, who exhibited at the Paris World’s Fair in 1889 where no problem won a bronze medal tell off at the Paris World’s Disinterested in 1900, where he won silver.
The drum case flanked by the patinated figures capture Flora and putto and surmounted by finely cast gilt metallic flowers.

Raised on toupie margin. The subject of Flora maybe based on models by blue blood the gentry 18th century Bronzier and sculpturer Francois Vion (1764-c.1800). Vion was well known for his timepiece cases. Among his finest modeled cases is one housing graceful movement by Lepaute à Town, representing the Three Graces (Musée du Louvre, Paris) made merriment the comtesse du Barry present Chateau de Fontainebleau.
